I'm taking a break from

First Saturday Arts Market

The heat is too hard on the art and the artist. I plan on returning in October. I should have more new art by then. If you see something you like, please contact me.
As always, I'm looking forward to seeing you there!

New

Marlin

Driftwood

36 in H x 68 in W

$1,350.00

I will have this piece displayed at the First Saturday Arts Market. It would look great over a fireplace or in an outdoor living area!

Wall mounted

New

il Polpo Sbrogliato

Otcopus Unraveled

Boxwood root, brick base
22 in H x 11 in W

$750.00

The octopus' body is a single piece of root. The tentacles (also roots) are additions. I kept in a photo of the process of making this creature. It took some time and effort to find just the right combination.

New

California Burning

Driftwood, bottlebrush

14 in H x 8 in W

$400.00

This piece was inspired by the wildfires in California last year.

Shore Bird II

Driftwood, pine bark

8 in H x 16 in W

$600.00

This bird at rest is made from a block of driftwood from Surfside. It has some great spalting and coloration.

Old Texas I

Driftwood, yellowed bottlebrush, brick base

6.5 in H x 16.5 in W

$400.00

This piece of driftwood was brought back from Kayak Point in Washington State.

Shore Bird IV

Spalted driftwood, walnut, sea-worn brick base

4.5 in H x 4.5 in W

$125.00

Another small item that looks great on a smaller shelf. The red on its head is natural.

Ruidoso Raptor

Pinyon pine, bottlebrush, brick base

14.5 in H x 8 in W

$390.00

This interpretation of a hawk was inspired by hood ornaments of vintage automobiles and by mid-century modern ceramic forms.

Roadrunner

Mesquite, squirrel-chewed pine cone, brick base

19.5 in H x 17 in W

Private collection

Growing up in West Texas, I was always on the lookout for wildlife along the country roads, and I liked watching the roadrunners keep pace with our old station wagon.

Raven

Driftwood, cedar fence base

12 in H x 10 in W

$300.00

I keep this piece on a high shelf--it just seems natural for it to have a high perch.

Bird at Rest

Weathered wood, squirrel-assisted pine cone, brick base

12 in H x 13 in W

$325.00

Another weathered piece of mesquite from Inks Lake, TX. There's a lot of movement in the wood grain.

Shore Bird III

Driftwood, different type of pine cone, definitely different squirrel

9 in H x 5 in W

$125.00

This is a small item but it has a lot of character.

Redfish Bluefish

Fence post, barbed wire, brick base

17 in H x 18 in W

$725.00

I found the original wood in a field in Oklahoma. Two separate pieces of wood had grown around the barbed wire and were held together by the wire. The different shapes of each piece dictated what types of fish they would be--a speckled trout and a redfish.

Whale Tail

Mesquite, driftwood base

22.5 in H x 12 in W

$650.00

This mesquite is over 70 years old. I retrieved it from a ranch near Alice, TX. The property owner had a fence made of stacked cut mesquite, probably about 100 ft long and 4 ft high. He had started stacking the axe-hewn wood over 70 years ago. You could tell the newer wood because it was cut with a chain saw. Looking for an opportunity to make a visit for more wood.

Floating

Driftwood

48 in H x 11 in W

$575.00

This is a wall mount installation. All mounting hardware is supplied, all you need is a phillips head screwdriver.
